Watch Russia, the international cultural and business publication issued in two languages, has released a new edition of the magazine in Russian and Arabic. The impetus for this ‘translation into Arabic’ was the explosive growth in tourist arrivals from the Gulf states to Russia, along with the qualitative shift that has taken place in Russian-Arab relations — they have reached a new level of strategic trust, with tourism proving merely a consequence of this process rather than its root cause.
Our cover star, Sergey Gorkov, Chairman of the Russian-Arab Business Council (RABC) at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, explains how a new architecture of partnership between Russia and the Arab world is taking shape. With this issue, Watch Russia and the RABC announce a partnership whose mission is to strengthen inter-civilisational, cultural and, of course, economic dialogue between Russia and the Arab countries (we all know that matter and being determine consciousness), and to foster a deeper mutual understanding.

The first public appearance of the printed Russian- and Arabic-language edition of Watch Russia took place at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum, held from 3 to 6 June, during the ‘Russia – Arab World’ business dialogue moderated by Sergey Gorkov. Future issues of Watch Russia are also planned in Russian, English and Arabic.
In the first Russian-Arabic issue of Watch Russia, alongside an interview with the head of RADS, you will find the following topics:
A Russian Fairy Tale for the East: on what first and foremost attracts wealthy and discerning Arab tourists to Russia.
Very Valuable Guests: how the Russian hotel industry welcomes visitors from the Gulf states – Lad Samodumskaya, General Manager of Baltschug Kempinski Moscow, reports.
Coming to Russia for your health: how the Russian medical tourism market is developing and why it has enormous potential.
The East as an Obsession: how the genre of Orientalism emerged in European art and how Eastern imagery influenced Western visual culture.
The Russian Scheherazade: how Sergei Diaghilev’s ballet Scheherazade changed choreography and fashion worldwide.
Watch Russia now has a fully fledged Arabic version of its website. Arabic joins Russian and English, offering another perspective on contemporary Russia and another opportunity for a direct conversation with the world
