On 12 October 2026, the Yermolova Theatre will host the first Hommage. Watch Russia awards ceremony
‘Hommage’ is a mark of respect and gratitude towards the people, places and projects that preserve what matters and create something new.
Among the award’s recipients are figures from the cultural world and entrepreneurs, as well as the founders of museums, theatres, new venues, local enterprises and community initiatives.
“For Watch Russia, this award is a continuation of what we do as an editorial team: telling the story of Russia through the people, places and endeavours we consider important. We wanted to bring together those who have spent years preserving what is valuable, creating something new and shaping the world around them through their work”.
Natalia Shastik,
Editor-in-Chief, Watch Russia
Scale is not the main criterion here. What matters is the quality of the work, its consistency and what remains once it is done.
For places and cultural projects that change the way we perceive a city, region or territory.
For the people and projects that develop regions, preserve local identity and create cultural initiatives and local production.
For cultural, museum, artistic, educational and research projects that preserve heritage and create something new.
For a contemporary formal language in product and interior design, architecture and visual culture.
For entrepreneurial, social, educational and community projects that solve specific problems and give people new opportunities.
To the people and projects that bring together cultures, cities, countries and professional communities.
The award’s principal honorary prize is the Hommage to the Elder. It will go to a figure whose many years of contribution to culture remain significant today
“In essence, ‘Hommage’ is an award of gratitude. A chance to say thank you to those who have taken their work seriously for many years, and to those who today are creating what may in time become an important part of our culture and lives.”
