About

Looking Deeply into Russia

Launched nearly two decades ago as a project dedicated to the luxury industry, in 2025 Watch Russia turns its attention to another kind of luxury, the riches of the land and material and immaterial culture in all their diverse manifestations. In 2025, “Russia” became the key word in the project’s name. We intend to look deeply into Russia. And we do so from an outsider’s perspective, that of a foreign tourist, partner, or investor. This viewpoint often allows us to discover something new about ourselves. So, we’ve decided to make our project bilingual, both Russian and English, to address both the country and the world in search of a dialogue with it.

Another distinctive feature of this cultural and business publication, which defines the format of Watch Russia, is a breakdown of the traditional hierarchy between high spiritual values and low material ones. We firmly believe that farmers working on the land should be afforded just as much respect as artists and performers. Both are creators who multiply the country’s wealth and shape its image. Chefs have already partially achieved hero status in the public consciousness. Now let’s give due credit to those who grow and produce.

In terms of thematic diversity, Watch Russia can be likened to an inflight magazine. But it’s one that is firmly grounded and closely connected to the earth, given our love for farmers. An inflight magazine is what we pick up when embarking on a journey. That’s exactly where we’re inviting you to do, to take a trip through Russia so that you can visit places where lotuses bloom fragrantly, the arts flourish, crops ripen and are harvested, bread is baked, dresses sewn, and new tourist infrastructure projects are coming to life. To experience simple yet creative living at its best.
