Watch Russia – For the First Time in Arabic

The international cultural and business magazine Watch Russia, published in two languages, has released a new issue in Russian and Arabic. The impetus for this «translation into Arabic» came from the explosive growth in tourist traffic from the Gulf countries to Russia, as well as the qualitative shift that has taken place in Russian–Arab relations — one that has elevated their interaction to a new level of strategic trust, with tourism emerging as a consequence of this process rather than its primary driver.

The cover story explores how a new architecture of partnership between Russia and the Arab world is currently being built, featuring an interview with Sergei Gorkov, Chairman of the Russia–Arab Business Council (RABC) of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation. Starting with this issue, Watch Russia and the RABC announce a partnership whose mission is to strengthen intercultural, civilizational, and — of course — economic dialogue between Russia and Arab countries (after all, we all know that matter and being shape consciousness), while fostering deeper mutual understanding.

The first public appearance of the print edition of Watch Russia in Russian and Arabic took place at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, held from June 3–6, during the «Russia–Arab World» business dialogue, which was moderated by Sergei Gorkov. Future issues of Watch Russia are also planned in Russian, English, and Arabic.

In addition to the interview with the head of the RABC, the inaugural Russian-Arabic issue of Watch Russia features the following topics:

  • Russian Fairy Tales for the East – on what first attracts affluent and discerning Arab tourists to Russia.
  • Very Valued Guests – Lada Samodumskaya, General Manager of Balchug Kempinski Moscow, shares how Russia’s hotel industry welcomes visitors from the Gulf countries.
  • To Russia for Health – on the development of Russia’s medical tourism market and why it holds enormous potential.
  • The East as an Obsession – on the emergence of Orientalism as a genre in European art and how Eastern visual imagery influenced Western aesthetics.
  • The Russian Scheherazade – on how Sergei Diaghilev’s ballet Scheherazade transformed world choreography and fashion.
